Butterfly birthday

In need of a last minute card (I know! You'd think I'd have loads knocking around, wouldn't you? As fast as I can make them, people nick them off me.  Or I'll make one I really like & then can't bring myself to part with it - anyone else do that?) I CASEd* this card from this month's Simply Cards & Papercraft magazine.

I used the basic grouping of the original card & substituted butterflies for flowers, as they were quick to stamp out & then punch with coordinating punches.

I used the 2013-15 in Colors which will retire in a couple of months - a real shame as I absolutely love this set. The Happy Birthday sentiment is from the Butterfly Basics stamp set (137154) - I forgot to add it to the links below.

Now, I best go write inside it before the temptation to squirrel it away with all my other precious makes takes hold!

golf card

Clean & simple  isn't usually my style, but you can't beat it for banging out impressive looking cards, quickly.

I CASEd this from a cute card on Pinterest & made it in minutes.  Buying card, papers & ribbons from the same Stampin' Up! collections (in this case, the 2014-16 In Colors) means you can do that without having to worry if stuff will 'go'.

BTW, the golf ball & hole are punched using the small circles from the Owl punch. And the flag is the tip of the Tree punch

Simply Cards & Papercraft issue 134

This month's Simply Cards & Papercraft magazine features some fab Easter projects using Stampin' Up! products (page 43-47).

I've linked the items used below. You just need to gaze at the conveyor belt, Generation Game style, until the item you want scoots past.

No glue chocolate bar box (video)

Check out my video tutorial for this box - it's quick and very easy! It wraps a standard sized chocolate bar (Cadbury's Dairy Milk or Green & Blacks). The dimensions of the bar I used are 6"x3", but the box is quite generous & could take something a little larger.

You don't need any glue, the folds hold the box together securely. Make it as plain or as fancy as you like. Looking ahead to next term, it would make a great way of dressing up an inexpensive teacher's gift.

Use a piece of paper 8 1/2" x 12". The score lines are as below, and you're going to cut away the shaded areas.

Score along the 12" side at 2 7/8" & 9 1/8" (or flip the card & score again at 2 7/8")
Score along the shorter 8.5" side at 3", 3 3/4", 6 3/4" & 7 1/2"

You want to draw a line at 1/2" from the vertical score line, between the first and second score lines, on each side of the lid. this creates the small flaps that tuck in.

I used the products below to titivate it a bit, but you don't need them to make the basic box (although the score board makes it a doddle!)

Cheerful Critters pop up card (video)

Right. First off, please excuse my grebby nails in this video. I had intended to re paint them beforehand, but, well, frankly I just couldn't be bothered. I'd love to say they don't normally look like that...

Anyway, here's how to make the Cheerful Critters pop up card from earlier in the week. I must admit I've struggled a little with this stamp set. I'm not used to working with cartoonish images & it's been a challenge to work them in in a way which I'm happy with. But I really love this card, & I think they work so well with the So You stamp set.

The ribbon & patterned paper for the dress & pink frame are available for free during Sale-a-bration, for every £45 you spend. There have also been a couple of lovely new additions to the free items so check them out here*. Sale-a-bration only lasts to the end of March, so why not treat yourself now?

*please note the Blendabilities are not currently available to order

Cheerful Critters pop up

Been a busy old week, topped off with Thursday's monthly class, where we made pop up cards. When it comes to pop up cards I can never make just one, so here's another featuring 2 stamp sets - Cheerful Critters & So You.

If I get chance on Monday I'll post a video  showing you how to make it :)
